Wedding Veil Care Tips | How To Soften Your Wedding Veil | How to Store Your Wedding Veil

Hi brides, today we're going to talk about what to expect when your wedding veil arrives and go over some helpful veil care instructions.

We get this question a lot - brides are so excited when their package finally arrives that they open the box take it out and they can be worried that the tulle isn't quite as soft as expected, or that it is quite wrinkled from transit. This because we have to package our wedding veils and send them across the country, sometimes across the world.

The tulle we use is so delicate, so when we fold them and package them, it creates lots of wrinkles.

We completely understand how you feel when you open a new package and see the veil is full of wrinkles. But do not worry - this is totally normal.

When it leaves our shop it's so soft, perfect and so sheer, but once it is unboxed again, it will need to be left to hang. It will then begin to soften up and transform into something beautiful.

That’s the safest way to release the wrinkles. However, if your wedding is very urgent, there are a few helpful tricks that you can do to speed up the process.

The first step is just let it hang for a short time - at least 24 hours. You can just put a clip on the comb and hang it from a hanger, you can drape it over your couch, you can do anything that allows your veil to hang a straight and flat as possible.

If it's a long veil, or if you don’t get chance to hang it up as soon as it arrives, the veil will take longer to soften up.

You can also steam your veil, by waving a handheld steamer or a typical iron with a steamer function. We recommend this as an easy way to take out wrinkles in a short amount of time, but make sure to never let the hot plate of the iron touch the fabric, to avoid damage.

Instead, always keep a 20-30cm distance between the steamer and the fabric. Remember – the technique is to ‘steam’, rather than to ‘iron’.

If your wedding veil happens to have lace or trim that's wrinkled from packaging, you can steam this, but keep the steamer at a safe distance.

Another helpful tip that you can try is to let your veil hang in the bathroom while you shower. The steam from the hot water will act like a steamer and actually help to soften up your veil.

What I suggest that you do when you're first get your wedding veil is take it out of the box, look it over, and make sure it's exactly what you want it as far as colour and length. Then, hang up or steam as desired.
